San Mateo Credit Union Presents the Redwood City PAL Blues Festival ~ Benefit for Redwood City Police Activities League
Redwood City, CA - July 6 , 2006
- On Saturday July 22nd the Blues will rule in Redwood City, at the inaugural San Mateo Credit Union Presents Redwood City PAL Blues Festival!
What a great way to spend a beautiful summer day, basking in Redwood City’s glorious weather, enjoying great blues music, and helping to benefit the crucial programs of the Redwood City Police Activities League (PAL).
- When: Saturday, July 22nd, 2006
11:00 am to 6:00 pm
(doors open at 10 am)
- Where: Sequoia High School
1201 Brewster Avenue, Redwood City
Your $10 advance-purchase tickets ($15 at the door) will help Redwood City PAL to continue its work focusing on intervention, prevention, and alternative programs for at-risk and economically challenged youth in Redwood City. Redwood City PAL influences thousands of children and teen lives in positive ways each year, thanks to the great volunteers who give of their time and energy.
Tickets for the San Mateo Credit Union Presents Redwood City PAL Blues Festival can be purchased online via PayPal by visiting www.redwoodcity.org/police/pal.html and clicking on “Evite”, or can be purchased right at the Redwood City Police Department, 1301 Maple Street. Sequoia High School has easy access to Caltrain and SamTrans – the use of public transit is encouraged.
Here’s the lineup for this great, family-friendly event:
- 11 am The South City Blues Band
A polished straight-ahead Blues band with excellent song selection. Individually gifted musicians featuring John Lull, a highly regarded local saxophone blues icon. A perfect band to set the tone of the day!
- 12 noon The Redwood City Blues Jam All-Stars
The very crème of the Redwood City Blues Jam at the Little Fox. Some of the Bay Area’s best Blues musician showcasing their well known individual talents.
- 1 pm Kenny “Blue” Ray
Local blues guitar legend with an unparalleled mastery of the tone, style, and technique of the great blues guitar players. Solid supporting band with Charlie Chavez on harmonica. This is the real deal!
- 2:15 pm The Madison Blues Band
Redwood City's own blues band featuring Chicago and Texas style shuffling blues. Strong vocals, great keyboards, and of course killer guitar. Music to smile and dance to, and always a crowd pleaser.
- 3:45 pm Kenny Neal
Featuring the inimitable southern charm and grace of internationally known blues and soul singer Carol Fran - she's played with all the greats and joins Kenny Neal's band for this performance.
Outside beverages, food, and smoking are prohibited on campus. Food and beverages will be available on-site. Low lawn chairs or blankets are permitted. Limited handicapped spaces will be available near the stage.
