Architectural Review Committee
The Architectural Review Committee was established by Resolution
No. 11497 to provide enhancement of the natural beauty of the environment,
and to provide for the orderly and harmonious appearance of structures
and grounds in furtherance of the purpose of Article 45 of Ordinance
No. 1130, as amended, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance. Resolution
12977 revised the terms of Committee members to commence and expire
May 31, of even numbered years.
The Committee shall advise the City Council, Planning Commission,
and Zoning Administrator on matters concerning building and landscape
architecture, site design, and signs. Specifically, the Committee
shall:
- Review the Redwood City Urban Design Guidelines and make recommendations.
- Review applications for architectural permits pertaining to
single family and multi-family dwellings, signs, landscaping,
commercial and industrial buildings, and make recommendations.
- Make recommendations regarding architectural aspects of both
private and public projects of an unusual or controversial nature.
- Make recommendations regarding architectural issues raised on
appeal to the City Council in connection with the issuance or
denial of entitlements or other project approvals or denials.
- Provide such other recommendations pertaining to architectural
matters regarding private and public projects in the City of Redwood
City as deemed appropriate.
The Architectural Advisory Committee of the City of Redwood City consists of five members. At least three licensed architects or landscape architects
residing or working in the City of Redwood City, or its sphere of
influence (as described by and in the General Plan of the City of
Redwood City) and the remaining members of the Committee shall be
residents of the City of Redwood City interested in civic matters.
