Redwood City Helps Parents Produce (Almost!) Perfect Children with Program for "Everyday Etiquette for Kids"

Redwood City, CA -  March 8, 2004 - Who wouldn't want words such as, "polite," "helpful," and "pleasant" to be used to describe their child? Redwood City 's Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department can help children be described with at least one of these words with its new "Etiquette Series" of courses for kids.

This spring, Redwood City offers "Everyday Etiquette" and "Dining Skills for Kids" for children ages 8 to 12 years old. Topics will include: making introductions, handshakes, writing thank-you notes, social and communications skills, folding napkins, setting the table, the ABCs of table manners, how to hold the knife & fork, and American & Continental Styles of eating. In addition, children will be able to practice their skills during a three-course tutorial luncheon, as well as receive a certificate of completion, provided on the last day of class. These "child transformation" classes, will be taught by Ana Aspinall, certified by the Protocol School of Washington®, the nation's leader in etiquette and protocol services.

Classes will run at both Red Morton and Sandpiper Community Centers . The first series will be offered on four Saturdays, March 13th through April 3rd from 10:00 - 11:30am, at Sandpiper Community Center , 797 Redwood Shores Parkway , in Redwood Shores .
