Redwood City Festival for Healthy Living - Community Invited to “Walk For The Health Of It!”

Redwood City, CA - September 8, 2009 - The Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department, in partnership with The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, invites the community to a special festival that’s all about healthy living!

The “Walk for the Health of It!” Festival takes place on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 from 10 am – 3 pm at Red Morton Park. This fun and informative festival will feature health vendors from throughout the Peninsula, a bin for safely discarding unused or expired medications, a community sponsored Flea Market, and more.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend this FREE festival. To kick off the event, a walk around Red Morton Park will begin at 10:30 am. The “Walk for the Health of It!” Festival focuses all aspects of healthy living: from getting rid of the clutter in one’s life, to finding a great discount at the community flea market, and from taking a healthy stroll around the park, to getting valuable information from health vendors! It’s all about creating a happier, healthier community, starting with the individual.

The simple goal of the Festival is that everyone, regardless of age or health status, gains some health benefit from this wonderful free event. Anyone interested in having a space to sell unwanted items in the flea market, or businesses/non-profit agencies that want to promote their healthy services at this event, should call (650) 780-7274 to obtain more information and an application.

Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department provides recreational facilities and activities for all ages and interests, and supplies building and custodial services for City buildings.
