Please Help Us Assist Fallen Officer Gerardo Silva’s Family in this Time of Need
The Redwood City Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their officers who died Friday, Jan. 20 while on duty. Officer Gerardo Silva, 57, an 18-year veteran of the Redwood City Police Department, was working on patrol Friday morning as he received a call for service at the police station. Officer Silva was discovered within the police department facility unconscious and not breathing. Unfortunately, his wife, also a Redwood City Police Department employee, was present at the police facility when this tragic event occurred. Officer Silva was transported to the hospital and despite all emergency efforts, died of natural causes. Officer Silva lived and worked in Redwood City and he will be missed by all. Officer Silva leaves behind a wife, two daughters, and two grandchildren.
