Building, Infrastructure & Transportation Services
Shaping a sustainable community together!
We review building applications, issue permits, and inspect all privately-owned buildings. We develop and implement infrastructure master plans for Redwood City public facilities. Infrastructure includes roads, bridges, highway overpasses, buildings, parks, levees, lagoons, and water/sewer/storm/recycled water facilities and pipelines. We support local and regional transportation networks, including City streets, public parking, streetcars, shuttle programs, highway interchanges, statewide rail, and ferry systems.
Our Core Services:
-
Green Building: Our building plan reviewers, inspectors, and code enforcement officers process permit applications and enforce building regulations and city codes to ensure health and safety conditions and aesthetic qualities.
-
Sustainable Infrastructure: Our engineers, inspectors, and technicians provide design, design review, construction administration, and management of all capital improvement projects. This includes "design-through-completion" project management of all Capital Improvement Programs, and design review and inspection for private land development projects ranging from residential subdivisions to multi-story commercial structures.
-
Multi-modal Transportation: Our transportation staff members plan, design, and upgrade the city's roadway and parking systems. Redwood City supports "Complete Streets" and multi-modal transportation to ensure that City-owned and regional transportation systems are designed and operated for people of all ages and abilities who walk, bicycle, drive, and use transit.
