The Building Inspection Division is responsible for four major functions within the Community Development Department

-PERMIT PROCESSING AND COUNTER SERVICE:

• Our counter team consists of representatives from all sections of Community Development Department (Building Inspection, Engineering & Construction, Planning & Housing and Fire).

• Operation of the One-Stop Counter

• Issue Planning, Building, Engineering, and Fire Permits

-PLAN REVIEW:

• Plan review of 2,500 projects per year

• Residential plan submittal references & checklist

• Residential lighting requirements kitchen lighting requirements

• Bathroom, laundry, garage & other lighting requirements

• Outdoor lighting requirements

• Permit application checklist

• Fire sprinkler policy

• Local development standards

• Unreasonable hardship threshold

• The "2008 Building Energy Efficiency Standards" have been adopted by the California Energy Commission. All permit applications submitted on or after August 1, 2008 must meet the new requirement (see attached file for 2008 changes).
