Value of Building Permits
Commercial Building Permits are a key indicator of construction activity in the City. The annual value of building permits issued includes new construction as well as tenant improvements in existing buildings. Construction activity affects city revenues in two ways: permits are a source of revenue for the City and investment in local businesses and infrastructure has a direct benefit in the assessment of property taxes. Construction activity is also an indirect measure of job creation since this activity creates jobs.
