Community Benefit Improvement District

Downtown Redwood City is embarking upon establishing a Community Benefits Improvement District (“CBID”) which will provide enhanced services for the Downtown core.  After various efforts, the Redwood City City Council took action at its Council meeting on June 9, 2014 to approve a Resolution of Intent to initiate proceedings to formulate the District.

The proposed Downtown Redwood City CBID serves to improve the individual parcels, attract new residents, business and customers to their businesses, and enhance the benefiting individual parcels within the CBID.  The proposed CBID seeks to fund special benefits that will be provided over the next fifteen years, based upon keeping the Downtown Redwood City area attractive, clean, safe, orderly, well marketed with special events and programs, thus making the district a high quality place to live and entertain guests and to increase commerce within the boundaries.

The balloting process to establish this district commences on June 12, 2014 and culminates at the Redwood City City Council Meeting Public Hearing on this topic on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 7:00pm.  In order to be counted, ballots of Downtown Property Owners must be received by the City Clerk prior to the close of the public comment portion of the public hearing.
