3rd Annual OktobeRun Half Marathon and 5k Run/Walk
On October 12, 2013, Redwood City will host the 3rd Annual OktobeRun Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk. This is one of the few half marathons on the Peninsula. The half marathon course is flat, scenic, and largely off-road, perfect for a personal record. Beginning at historic Courthouse Square in downtown Redwood City, runners join the Bay Trail by Bair Island in the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, continue to a gravel and dirt trail next to Steinberger Slough in Redwood Shores, and return. The 5K course follows the first part of the longer course and is mostly on city streets.
Weather is likely to be perfect for runners. Situated midway between San Francisco and San Jose, our location next to San Francisco Bay keeps our climate moderate and comfortable year round. The average high temperature in October is 73° and the average low is 49°.

New this Year! 5Kolor Run
New this year will be the 5Kolor Run, organized by the two Redwood City Rotary Clubs. Following the Half Marathon and the 5K, the route will be converted for some color madness. Each 1K you walk or run, you’ll be blasted and painted with non-toxic colored powder. As you pass the finish line in all your technicolor glory, you’ll enjoy a huge color explosion. After the race, runners and their families are invited to stay for a full day of food, drink, and live entertainment at the new Oktoberfest celebration at Courthouse Square! Click here for more information on Oktoberfest.
