Community Development Services Department
The Community Development Services Department consists
of four divisions -- Planning, Redevelopment/Housing/Economic Development, Building & Inspection, Engineering & Construction. The purpose
of Community Development Services is to help our community
create a vision, plan for that vision, and review and process
developments with that vision in mind.
Our Core Services:
-
Building and Inspection
processes building permits and insures that construction
projects conform to Redwood City codes. Code Enforcement
checks existing buildings and properties for compliance
with Federal, State, and local codes.
-
Engineering and Construction
provides engineering and construction services in planning,
design, construction administration, mapping, permitting,
and traffic management for public and private projects
such as roadways, utilities, and buildings.
-
Planning prepares and
reviews City policies and plans related to land use, growth
and design. Planners use various documents (e.g. the General
Precise or Area Plans as well as zoning and other
ordinances) as tools to process projects and implement
adopted goals and policies.
-
Redevelopment, Housing and
Economic Development
develops programs and implements projects based on the
adopted City goals and policies in certain redevelopment
areas such as the Downtown. In addition, it administers
the Community Development Block Grant Program.
Our Core Purpose:
Making the community a better place
Building community together!
