on the November 8, 2005 Ballot
Proposed Amendments to the City Charter
of Redwood City
These proposed amendments are intended to increase consistency and
reduce the amount of time and expense related to certain administrative functions of Redwood City. They do not change the governmental structure of the City.
Ballot question for Measure M:
"Shall specified sections of the City Charter be amended to allow the Library Board to furnish its proposed budget to the City Manager by the same date as required of other City departments; allow Planning Commissioners and Port Commissioners to continue to hold office until their successors are appointed and qualified; and permit the Board of Equalization to meet on any regular City Council meeting date in July of each year?"
A "yes" vote on Measure M means that the voter is in favor of the proposed Charter amendments. A "no" vote on Measure M means that the voter is not in favor of the proposed Charter amendments.
Proposed amendments to Section 19-1/2 of
the City Charter would allow the Library Board to furnish
its proposed budget to the City Manager by the same date
as required of other City departments.
Proposed amendments to Sections 17 and 47b of the City Charter would allow the Planning Commissioners and Port Commissioners to continue to hold office until their successors are appointed and qualified.
Proposed amendments to Section 54 of the City Charter would allow the Board of Equalization to meet on any regular Citiy Council meeting date in July of each year.
