Classical Series 2014

For the classical music lover, or anyone who appreciates great musical talent, Redwood City continues its Classical Music Series starting in June. The series launches at 6 pm with the Redwood Symphony on June 21st. The US Air Force Travis Brass Band performs on July 12, followed by Opera San Jose on July 13. Closing out the series is the Bayshore Lyric Opera on September 14 at 3pm. Families will love these free classical concerts, performed outdoors on beautiful Courthouse Square.

Redwood Symphony, under the direction of founder and Music Director, Eric Kujawsky, perform a one-hour program of favorites from the concert and movie worlds, including music from Menkin's, Beauty and Beast; a Henry Mancini Medley; Rossini's, Barber of Seville Overture; the Can-Can and a "Pops" Hoedown!

Travis Brass is the multitalented brass group of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. From a standard march or traditional brass composition to jazz, ragtime and the popular music of today, this group’s diverse repertoire covers a myriad of styles to exhilarate audiences. Throughout the West Coast, Travis Brass focuses on educational outreach through hands-on clinics, master classes and interactive concerts for aspiring musicians of all ages. Travis Brass is featured on the recording “Wood ‘n Brass” and most recently appeared on the local television show Good Day Sacramento. These talented artists are active duty professional musicians working in support of Air Mobility Command and the surrounding communities. Travis Brass’ blend of sound, style and humor make them an entertaining ensemble, putting an evolutionary spin on music for tomorrow.

Opera San José, is a professional, regional opera company that is unique in the United States. Maintaining a resident company of principal artists, Opera San José specializes in showcasing the finest young professional singers in the nation. Principal artists from the Opera San José resident company will present a concert on Courthouse Square highlighting some of the greatest arias and ensembles in opera repertoire from Mozart to Puccini, and a preview of the company's 2014-15 season, which includes Verdi’s, Rigoletto, Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers, Weiser’s Where Angels Fear to Tread, and Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
