5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR
This agenda item affords members of the public the opportunity
to directly address the City Council on any subject relating
to the City Council which is not on the agenda or any item
within the Consent Calendar. If the subject you wish to
address is not on the agenda, please understand that the
Brown Act (Open Meeting Law) precludes the Council from
taking any action at this time. All items within the Consent
Calendar are considered to be routine and the City Council
will waive the reading of the Consent Calendar (except
the title of any ordinances) and adopt all resolutions
and ordinances, and approve other items by one motion and
one vote. The total time allocated to this agenda item
is within the discretion of the Mayor, but is generally
limited to 15 minutes.
MOTION: waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the
ordinances by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances,
and approve other items.

Redwood City and the Redwood City School District for
After School Program Services

Recommendation:
Approve by motion and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment #2 to
the Agreement dated September 8, 2003 for After School Program Services that
the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services provides. The Amendment would
allow payment to the City from the Redwood City School District in an amount
of $257,917.00.

Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement between the
County of San Mateo, the City of Redwood City, and the Redwood City School

2003/2004 Redwood City Family Centers agreement.

The proposed use of 2004 Citizens Option for Public
Safety (COPS) funds of $110,267 by the Redwood City
Police Department.

Recommendation:
After completion of the Public Hearing, approve by motion, the Police Chief’s
recommendation to dedicate $100,730.00 of the Citizens Option for Public Safety
(COPS) funds to the salaries and benefits of the new police officer positions
approved by City Council pursuant to the staffing study of 1997. The Police
Chief recommends that the remaining funds, $9, 537.00, be dedicated to the
purchase of law enforcement equipment.
