Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine
by the City Council, and will be enacted by one motion and
one vote. The Consent Calendar category is limited to 15 minutes
of comment to be all as determined by the Mayor. If you wish

MOTION: Waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the
ordinances by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances,

System – Bid Package 8 not to exceed $312,000.00.

bidder, Peak Engineering, Inc., of San Francisco, for
their responsive and responsible low bid of $949,450.00
and authorize the City Manager to increase the contract
amount up to 10% if necessary.

Recommendation:
Introduce an ordinance amending Section 25.2.02 (L)
of the Redwood City Municipal Code to prohibit smoking
in all Redwood City parks.

Study Session: Proposed California High Speed Rail
Project – San Francisco to San Jose Section, on
the Caltrain Corridor.

Recommendation:
1. Provide input to staff for use in the City’s
official scoping comments letter to the California High
Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in response to the
Notice of Preparation of Environmental Impact Report/Statement
(EIR/EIS).
2. Discuss possible policies, principles, and guidelines
that the City Council may wish to create outlining the
community’s best interests related to the proposed
project, and its potential implementation alternatives.

8. PUBLIC HEARING

Solid Waste Collections Rate Increase.

Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council approve by resolution
a 1.6% increase in the overall revenue requirement for
Allied Waste Industries, the City’s franchised
waste hauler, effective February 10, 2009 and approve
the implementation of a progressive rate structure for
commercial subscribers. For typical residential customers
who have one 32-gallon container picked up once a week,
the increase will amount to $0.24 per month.
