PACT Letter from the Mayor
January, 2009
Dear Redwood City Community Members:
I’d like to invite you to help build a great community,
together. Redwood City’s Partnership Academy for Community
Teamwork (PACT) is a dynamic and fun nine-week citizens academy
designed to give you a comprehensive hands-on overview of
your City government, and give you the knowledge and tools
to help strengthen our City.
During the PACT sessions, you’ll get involved in everything
from Public Works to the Police Department, from the City
Council to Finance, from the Fire Department to the Library
to Parks, and everything in between. This is a great opportunity
to get an insider’s view of where the City is going,
and how we can work together to create a greater sense of
community. By getting involved and engaged in learning about
the operation of City government, our communication will be
improved and we’ll strengthen and enhance our community.
How are City decisions made? How are City funds are allocated?
How do City departments operate with each other? You’ll
learn answers to these questions and more, and get the opportunity
to sit down with City Council members to discuss issues that
are important to you. It’s all part of building a great
community, together.
The 2009 PACT sessions will take place from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm each
Wednesday evening from April 1st through May 27th, and include
dinner. Each session will involve you in interesting activities
that illustrate how the City works, how our community is developing,
and how people can work toward building a greater community
in Redwood City. After the final session, each participant
will receive a graduation certificate during a ceremony which
will take place at a City Council meeting, currently scheduled
for June 1st, 2009.
form for the 2009 class of PACT, which must be
completed in full and provided to the City Manager’s
office by 5:00 pm, March 18th. You can email, fax, mail, or
hand-deliver the form. Space is limited - a maximum of 40 participants can be accommodated. We'll confirm your participation by March 18th. Call 780-7300 for more information.
Our City’s health and progress is built upon our diverse communities,
our civic pride, our strong neighborhoods, and each individual’s
sense of responsibility for making the City a better place
for everyone – we want you involved in PACT as one way
of strengthening our community, and building a better City.
Sincerely,

Rosanne Foust , Mayor
