Redwood City 2020
After school Recreation and Academic Support

The After School Program, a partnership between the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, and Redwood City 2020, is located on eight campuses throughout the Redwood City School District. Over 800 students are served each day. These After School Learning Centers are located at Roosevelt, Hawes, Fair Oaks, Hoover, Kennedy, Taft, Selby Lane, and John Gill Schools.

Funding for the After School Program comes from several sources, including 21st Century CCLC, the California Department of Education After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program, the City of Redwood City, and private and non-profit foundations.

This program, under the supervision of Parks and Recreation Department’s trained staff, has been established to serve under-performing, low income, primarily Spanish-speaking children so that they can have access to high quality after school programs where they will be encouraged to learn and develop their strengths in a nurturing environment. Students attending this program receive homework assistance and tutoring services, and participate in recreation activities that complement and align with the regular school day, allowing students to excel, not only academically, but socially, physically, and emotionally as well.
