Redwood City Shuttle Services Pilot Program

Redwood City currently provides two community shuttle services to help ease traffic congestion, offer a viable transportation alternative, and help reduce our community's carbon footprint - the Midday On Demand shuttle, and the Mid Point Business Park shuttle.

The Midday On Demand Community Shuttle started service on June 3rd, 2008, providing residents with on-demand door-to-door shuttle service to address midday transportation needs in the Fair Oaks Community and surrounding area.

Funded by the City of Redwood City, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County, this is a pilot program to serve the transportation needs of low income residents.

This community shuttle service operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm in the eastern part of Redwood City with two stops outside the area – Veterans Memorial Senior Center and Woodside Plaza. The eastern part of Redwood City includes: Downtown Redwood City, Fair Oaks, Friendly Acres, Kaiser Hospital, Marsh Manor, Redwood Village and Stambaugh/Heller.

To plan a trip on the shuttle, Redwood City residents just contact the shuttle driver directly the day before the planned trip to reserve a pick up and drop off within the service area. The telephone number to schedule a shuttle trip is 650-248-9643. The driver speaks English and Spanish.

The Mid Point Shuttle began on April 2nd, 2007 and is designed to provide employees at Mid Point Technology Park with shuttle service directly from the Redwood City Caltrain Station. This shuttle service is provided by the City of Redwood City, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and local employers being served by the shuttle service.

The Redwood City Mid Point Shuttle service will operate Monday through Friday beginning at 6:33 am from the Redwood City Caltrain Station, making stops along Broadway to Mid Point Technology Park. The last morning shuttle will depart at 8:56 am. Service runs again in the afternoons starting at 3:27 pm from Mid Point, with the last shuttle leaving Mid Point at 7:01 pm. The service will provide commuters to and from Mid Point Technology Park with transportation approximately every 25 minutes during these commute hours.

Both shuttles are managed by the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance.
