Track Work in Redwood City Beginning in June

Redwood City, CA - June 17, 2003 - Redwood City is forwarding this Caltrain construction notice as a courtesy and for the benefit of those who may not be aware of the work that will be ongoing.

Caltrain has started construction for the CTX project along the rail corridor from San Francisco to Sunnyvale. Preparatory work in Redwood City began June 4. This work includes removing and installing fences and signs, and extending an aqueduct bridge. Track and signal work is anticipated to begin in mid-July. Track demolition and reconstruction activities include removing old tracks and installing new wood or concrete ties and rail. Signal activities include replacing manual switches with remote control switches controlled by Caltrain's dispatch. Construction is anticipated to continue through spring 2004.

A GENERAL REMINDER:

• Primary work hours are Thursday from 7 a.m. to Monday at 4 a.m.
• Track reconstruction and bridgework requires the use of railroad equipment and OSHA mandated back-up alarms and lighting at several locations.
• Although there are no weekend passenger trains running along the corridor, the railroad tracks are still active. Construction equipment and materials will be moved along the right of way using work trains.

We appreciate your cooperation while we are modernizing Caltrain. Our construction crews will attempt to keep disruption to a minimum.

Trabajo en la Vias del Tren en Redwood City Programado para Junio

Caltrain ha comenzado la construcción del proyecto CTX en las áreas de San Francisco hasta Sunnyvale. El trabajo preparatorio en Redwood City comenzó el 4 de junio. Este trabajo incluye la instalación y relocación de cercas y senales. Tambíen se extenderá un puente de acuaducto.

Trabajo en las vias del tren y trabajo de senales electricas comenzarán a mediados de julio.
El trabajo de de reconstrucción las vias tren incluyen remover vias viejas e instalar vias nuevas de madera o de concreto y los rieles. La actividad de senales electricas incluye reemplazar los interruptores manuales con los interruptores a control remoto.

RECORDATORIO GENERAL:

• Las horas principales de trabajo son jueves 7 a.m. al lunes 4 a.m.
• La reconstrucción de las vias del tren requieren el uso del equipo ferroviario y OSHA alarmas y luminacion en varias localidades.
• Aunque no hay trenes que corran los fines de semanas las vias del tren están activas. El equipo de construcción y materiales se moveran usando los trenes de trabajo.
