Archived News Release from 2003 For Immediate Release "Hidden Authors of the Peninsula" is Subject of Special Presentation at Senior CenterRedwood City, CA - April 15, 2003 - A special breakfast presentation is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 at 9:30 am featuring Darwin Patnote, Ph.D., who will talk about "Hidden Authors of the Peninsula." The event takes place at Redwood City's Veteran's Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue in Redwood City. The cost is $3 including breakfast. Dr. Patnote's presentation will talk about authors from the peninsula area, including E. Hoffman Price and Kathryn Forbes, who wrote the short stories that later became "I Remember Mama," which was later turned into a movie. This talk is sure to fascinate literary fans and others with its interesting connections to the peninsula. The Veterans Memorial Senior Center offers a variety of programs and services, including innovative and creative classes, dinner dances, lectures provided by local historians, great food, information and referral, health and fitness classes that focus on wellness for free or at a very low cost. The Center is operated by the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, which provides recreational facilities and activities for all ages and interests, and supplies building and custodial services for City buildings.
