Community Forum #4 Scheduled for Proposed Branch Library at Redwood Shores

Redwood City, CA - January 29, 2003 - Over the last three months, the City has sponsored three public forums to discuss the community’s need and desire for a branch library in Redwood Shores. A great deal of public comment was received through these forums, and from a ‘needs assessment’ survey that has been distributed. A fourth community forum has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2003 from 7 to 9 pm at Sandpiper Community Center, located at 797 Redwood Shores Parkway.

At this meeting the consulting architect will present some conceptual designs of the possible branch library and community space. These conceptual designs are based on the public input received over the last three months, and from staff input. Diagrams of floor spaces, building profiles, and the overall site layout will help attendees to visualize the proposed library, and the services it could provide to the community.

Following this community forum, the City will proceed with developing a grant proposal to obtain funding from 2000’s Statewide Library Bond Act. If successful, the grant will provide two-thirds of the cost of a new branch library in Redwood Shores. If successful, the grant will provide two-thirds of the cost of a new branch library in Redwood Shores. More information on the proposed branch library at Redwood Shores can be found here.
