Speed Limit Lowered on Roosevelt
Avenue
Redwood City, CA - September 19, 2003 -
The speed limit on Roosevelt Avenue between El Camino Real
and Upton Street is being reduced from 30 to 25 miles per
hour. The new speed limit signs are scheduled for installation
by September 26. In addition, temporary signs will be posted
at strategic locations to alert drivers to the change in the
speed limit.
The new speed limit is being implemented as a result of
the most recent Engineering and Traffic Survey for this segment
of Roosevelt Avenue. That survey reflects the completion of
the recent improvement project on Roosevelt Avenue, which
narrowed portions of that roadway. The reduction in speed
limit is also consistent with the stated desire of many residents
who have spoken at a number of Roosevelt Neighborhood Association
meetings.
The City's traffic engineering program is an important element
in our community's ongoing improvement, and to our quality
of life. It's part of Redwood City's Community Development
Services department, which consists of four sections: Planning,
Redevelopment, Building & Inspection, and Engineering
& Construction. The purpose of Community Development Services
is to help the community create a vision, plan for that vision,
review and build developments in conjunction with that vision,
and then maintain that vision through follow up building and
code enforcement.
