For Immediate Release
Join the Celebration of Redwood City's
"City Talk Toastmasters"
Redwood City, CA - September 9, 2003
- Redwood City's newest Toastmasters club,
City Talk Toastmasters, is celebrating its new status as a
"Distinguished Club" and invites the public to join
in celebrating this milestone occasion. In just over a year,
this fledgling club has reached the goals set by Toastmasters
International to qualify for "Distinguished" status.
The goals include specific increases in membership, achievement
of certain levels of proficiency by members, and officer training
objectives.
The big celebration takes place on Wednesday, September
24 in Redwood City's City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road. A light
lunch begins at noon, and from 12:30 to 1:30 a special City
Talk Toastmasters meeting will take place, featuring local
speech contest winners and Toastmasters luminaries. Your RSVP
is requested, so please call the contact number above to reserve
your place.
For the last year-and-a-half, City Talk Toastmasters has
been meeting at City Hall and helping people improve their
public speaking and leadership skills, in a fun and supportive
atmosphere. Members of City Talk Toastmasters report improved
communications skills, a greater ability to think quickly
and clearly on their feet during impromptu speeches, and a
superior skill in making quality presentations in front of
large and small groups. City Talk Toastmasters is open to
the public – here's an opportunity to meet the current
members, and experience a Toastmasters meeting.
Toastmasters International has a long reputation of helping
people overcome their fear of public speaking, and of providing
communications and leadership skills that are valuable in
both work-related and social situations. Members learn by
speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive
environment. Some of the skills that Toastmasters members
learn include: conducting meetings; giving impromptu speeches;
presenting prepared speeches; and constructive evaluation.
And, Toastmasters is really fun!
