Redwood City Firefighters’ “Create a Smile” Foundation Sponsors Fund Raiser for Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation: Special Preview of New John Travolta Movie “Ladder 49”
Redwood City, CA - September 10, 2004 - The Redwood City Firefighters’ “Create a Smile” Foundation is sponsoring a special preview screening of the new John Travolta movie “Ladder 49” as a fund raiser for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
The movie won’t be in theaters until October 1, but this preview takes place on Wednesday, September 15th, 2004 at 7:30 pm at the Century 20 Theaters, 1901 Junipero Serra Boulevard, in Daly City. Tickets are $20 apiece (a tax deductible donation) with proceeds going to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. Tickets are available only in advance and must be purchased by September 12. The contact for tickets is Jaime Young, San Mateo County Public Safety Communications, who can be reached at 650-363-4949 or via email at jdy@smc911dispatch.org.
The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation sponsors a free camp every summer for up to 180 children who are burn victims. It’s called “Champ Camp” and activities include everything kids love to do: go-carts, tennis, swimming, a night hike, ropes courses, horseback riding, and an end-of-the week dance. For these children, anything and everything is made possible, regardless of their injuries. Each year, significant fund raising must take place to make Champ Camp work for the kids, and this special fund raising movie preview will help the Camp to bring happiness and smiles to the faces of kids that have known little more than pain and suffering since their injuries. More information is available at www.aarbf.org.
This special fund raising event is co-sponsored by the Redwood City Firefighters’ Create-a-Smile Foundation, Kinko’s Redwood City, Molloy’s Tavern in Colma, Century 21 Theaters, and Touchstone/Walt Disney Pictures.
