For Immediate Release
More Concrete Pouring into Downtown Parking Garage Construction Site; Jefferson Avenue to be Temporarily Closed to Traffic
Redwood City, CA - August 4, 2004
- The big Downtown concrete pour continues, this time with an estimated 4,000 cubic yards of concrete going into the foundation of the new underground public parking garage later this week.
To accommodate the estimated 400 round trips of concrete trucks going into and out of the site, all lanes of Jefferson Avenue will be temporarily closed to traffic between Middlefield Road and Broadway beginning at midnight this Thursday night, August 5th, and continuing until as late as 2 pm Friday, August 6th.
The City asks for the patience and understanding of motorists and downtown businesses during this street closure. Motorists and pedestrians in the area are also asked to exercise additional caution, and to be aware of trucks, equipment, and workers going into and out of the construction site. Appropriate signage will be in place directing motorists, and flyers will be distributed to downtown businesses and residents to help them cope with this temporary inconvenience.
Anyone with Internet access can view the ongoing work via the City’s new construction project webcam, by visiting www.redwoodcity.org/webcam. This webcam will remain active for the duration of the entire project, from the garage excavation through completion of the retail-cinema project.
