FREE Live Music Begins Downtown on June 11, and at Stafford Park on June 30

Redwood City, CA - June 3 , 2004 - Redwood City's two free summer concert series are gearing up to bring a variety of top-quality local and national musical performers to the community. From jazz, blues, Celtic, and swing, to Latin, salsa, blues, country, and more, these free concerts are a great way to spend a balmy summer evening in Redwood City .

And, there's a special free concert on Thursdsay, July 29 from 6 to 8 pm at Marlin Park in Redwood Shores featuring Michael John Ahern and Little Wheels co-sponsored by the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission and the Redwood Shores Community Association.

First, starting June 11 "Live in Downtown" takes place Friday nights - excluding July 2 - from 6 to 8 pm in the City Center Plaza , right next to City Hall at 1017 Middlefield Road , across the street from the main library. This concert series is sponsored by the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission and the City of Redwood City .

July 23 - Octobop - West coast jazz
July 30 - Stanford Jazztet - Youthful jazz group
August 6 - California Cowboys - Contemporary western
August 13 - Brass Works - From classic to dance
August 20 - Orquestra Kalichin - South of the border salsa
August 27 - Ron Garriffo - Big contemporary jazz
September 3 - Orquesta de Sol - Lively Latin

Then, the Redwood City Parks , Recreation and Community Services Department presents the 2004 Summer Concert Series at Stafford Park . It's a great place to bring the family to enjoy free live music in a beautiful park setting at the corner of King Street and Hopkins Avenue. The concerts take place Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm in Stafford Park starting on June 30th. This series is funded in part by a generous donation from the Port of Redwood City and through local business sponsorships.
