For Immediate Release
Marshall Street Parking Garage Closed
This Weekend
Redwood City, CA - July 14, 2005 - The
Marshall Street Parking Garage in downtown Redwood City will
be closed Saturday and Sunday,
July 16 and 17. Motorists can use the Main Street Parking
lot behind City Hall during the closure. This closure is
necessary to allow the City's Contractor, John Plane Construction,
to finish the modifications to the garage to prepare for
the future “pay-on-foot” parking system. The “pay-on-foot” system
is a state of the art parking management system that will
allow customers to use credit cards, ATM debit cards, or
cash for their transactions. The “pay-on-foot” parking
control system will also be used at the City’s new
underground parking facility (presently under construction
as part of the “On Broadway” development), and
at the parking lot on Winslow Street, behind Sequoia Station
Shopping Center.
On Monday night starting at 10 p.m., the Marshall
Street Garage will also be closed to allow construction
workers to complete the striping and painting. No cars will
be
allowed to enter the facility after this time. Motorists
parked in the Garage after this time will be allowed
to exit, and directed out of the Garage by the Contractor,
or by signage.
