FREE Special Community Events in April and May at the Redwood City Public Library
Redwood City, CA - April 12 , 2007 -
The Redwood City Public Library and the Friends of the Library are offering many special events in April and May! Highlights include a fantastic book sale, a great film honoring Earth Day, and a stimulating discussion of modern art along with a film celebrating the life of artist Frida Kahlo.
- Friday, April 20th through Sunday, April 22nd - The Friends of the Library Book Sale . Volunteers have devoted hours choosing just the right mix of books, DVDs, CDs and videos to put on sale. Many fine art books, history books, trade paperbacks, and travel books in prime condition will be featured, as well as a great selection of children’s books—picture books, early readers, and fiction for older children. All proceeds benefit the Redwood City Public Library. Hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm; Sunday, 1 - 4 pm. And, on Sunday a full bag of books is just $5!
- Thursday, April 26th, 7 pm – Free movie: “Sacred Planet.” For anyone concerned about the earth’s climate crisis, or who wants to get involved on a local level, the Redwood City Public Library and Volunteers for Outdoor California (V-O-Cal) are presenting a FREE screening of Sacred Planet - a documentary narrated by Robert Redford. This 40-minute film takes the viewer into regions of the earth that have been untouched and unchanged by human hands. Shown at the Downtown Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road. Sponsored by the Friends of the Redwood City Library.
- Wednesday, May 2nd,6:30 pm - Free movie: “Frida.” The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will present a brief slide show on contemporary art, followed by a free showing of Frida, starring Salma Hayek, Alfred Molina, Antonio Banderas, and Edward Norton. The life story of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo is explored in this Academy Award-winning movie. Shown at the Downtown Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road. Sponsored by the Friends of the Redwood City Library. Light refreshments will be provided by Frida’s Restaurant of Redwood City.
