Council Appoints New City Clerk

Redwood City, CA - November 26, 2007 - The City Council has appointed Ms. Silvia Vonderlinden as Redwood City’s new City Clerk, to fill the position vacated by the upcoming retirement of current City Clerk Patricia Howe. Ms. Vonderlinden will begin as City Clerk on December 27th.

Ms. Vonderlinden is currently the City Clerk for Menlo Park, a position she’s held for the last five years. Prior to working for Menlo Park, she served as Redwood City’s Deputy City Clerk for nearly four years, giving her a strong insight and understanding of the unique philosophy, culture, and values of Redwood City’s municipal operations.

Coming back to Redwood City is an outstanding, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” said Ms. Vonderlinden. “I treasure the years and experience I gained in Menlo Park, and the supportive and exceptional staff, council, and community with whom I worked. Now, I’m looking forward to the exciting challenges and great possibilities for my role in Redwood City.”

Ms. Vonderlinden is a Certified Municipal Clerk, and is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, the Northern California City Clerks Association, and the Municipal Management Association of Northern California. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration, and resides in Woodside.
