Learn About Gang Awareness and Prevention at Presentation Offered by Partnership of Schools / City / Police / Sheriff / Non-Profit

Redwood City, CA - March 21, 2007 - Community safety is one of the top concerns of everyone who lives or works in Redwood City. And, it’s important that everyone in the community work together every day to maintain and improve our families’ safety and well-being.

To help with this effort, a broad partnership of Taft Community School, Redwood City School District, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department, Redwood City Police Department, Redwood City 2020, and the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center announce an opportunity for community members to gain a better understanding of the critical issues and topics of gang awareness and prevention. A special Gang Awareness Presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 beginning at 6 pm in the cafeteria at Taft Elementary School, 903 10 th Avenue in Redwood City.

The community is invited to gain a broader awareness of gangs and gang activity. This will be an informative and interesting presentation for any members of the community who are concerned about acts of gang violence, who want to learn about local gang trends and how to recognize the signs of gang involvement, who want to learn how to intervene if a child is suspected of gang involvement, and who would benefit by hearing from a parent and former gang member with first-hand experience.

To make it easy for any member of the community to attend, this presentation will include a light dinner for all and free childcare on site. For more information call 650-569-3868 ext. 304.
