Community Members Encouraged to Apply for Variety of Redwood City Boards, Commissions, & Committees – 30 Appointment Opportunities Available!

Redwood City, CA - February 11 , 2008 – The City of Redwood City is seeking applicants for appointment to a variety of its boards, commissions, and committees. Click here to go right to the list of opportunities.

This is a wonderful opportunity for interested City residents to become directly involved in participating in City government and serving the community. Members of the community are invited to bring their interest, experience, and enthusiasm and apply for appointment to one of these boards:

  • Architectural Review Committee
  • Board of Building Review
  • Civic Cultural Commission
  • Housing and Human Concerns Committee
  • Home Improvement Loan Committee
    (Appointed by, and must be a member of,
    the Housing & Human Concerns Committee)
  • Historic Resources Advisory Committee
    (Appointed by the Planning Commission)
  • Library Board
  • Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission
  • Planning Commission
  • Board of Port Commissioners
  • Senior Affairs Commission

These appointed bodies are an important and valued part of our City government, where public involvement is actively encouraged and supported. Members of these boards, commissions, and committees represent Redwood City’s diverse community and bring new ideas to the City Council and staff, helping them to make the best, most informed decisions possible for the benefit of everyone living and working in Redwood City.

Serving on a City board is a great way to show your Redwood City pride, and join us in working together to seek new, creative ideas and solutions,” said Rosanne Foust, Mayor of Redwood City. “This is a great opportunity for interested people to take the next step, and get directly involved in some of our most important issues.”

 Further information and applications are available by calling the City Clerk’s office at 650-780-7220, on the City’s website at (click on “I want to...” and select “Apply for a Board or Commission” – here is the direct link), or by visiting the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City. General requirements are that applicants have an interest in civic and community improvement, are 18 years of age or older, are a United States citizen, and are a resident of in corporated Redwood City (some board or commission positions may have additional requirements or preferred areas of expertise).

The deadline for submitting applications is 5 pm, Friday, March 21st, 2008.
