Redwood City CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Sponsors Blood Drive
Redwood City, CA - September 19, 2008 - Donating blood is something that almost anyone can do, and it’s something that is crucial for our community and the entire region. What a great way to show your community support, by doing something that can literally save someone’s life. The Redwood City Fire Department’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is sponsoring a blood donation drive, on Saturday, September 27th from 10 am - 2 pm, when the Blood Centers of the Pacific Bloodmobile will be at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue.
It’s easy to donate blood. Donors are asked to schedule their life-saving appointment online by visiting www.bloodheroes.com, clicking on “Find a Location” and entering Sponsor Code: CERT - or contact JoEllen at 650-922-7343 / jmyslik@bloodcenters.org to sign up or get questions answered. Then, donors can come to the Community Activities Building on Saturday and donate blood – doing so brings a great satisfaction in the knowledge that you have helped someone who you don’t even know – and that’s certainly a cornerstone of building a great community.
Why donate blood? Here are some of the best reasons: Someone needs blood every 2 seconds; one pint of blood can save up to 3 lives; if all blood donors gave just 3 times a year, blood shortages would be completely eliminated. It’s easy to do your part – donate blood on Saturday, September 27th.
