The Weekend Starts Early With Thursday Night Movie, Friday Night Concert and Art Show, and Saturday PAL Blues and Art Festival on the Square!
Redwood City, CA - July 16th, 2008 – The weekends start early in Downtown Redwood City, and the community is invited to join in the fun! See www.redwoodcityevents.com for all the details.
- Thursday nights feature Movies on the Square, when we bring a giant, inflatable movie screen to Courthouse Square and show classics both new and old. This Thursday, July 17 features “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” This weekly FREE event is a great way to spend a summer evening in Downtown Redwood City. Movies start at about 8:45 pm.
- Our Friday night Music on the Square series is in full swing, and this Friday, July 18 brings The Madison Blues Band starting at 6 pm. But everyone will want to arrive at Courthouse Square early, since this FREE night also features Art on the Square, when the streets around Courthouse Square are transformed into an astonishing gallery as artists and artisans exhibit their work, starting at 5 pm. This is one of our three juried art shows, where visitors can brows, enjoy, and purchase great original art, and enter a drawing to win gift certificates good to spend in artists ' booths at the show!
- And finally, the biggest blues fest on the peninsula takes place this Saturday, July 19 – it’s the PALBlues and Art Festival on the Square, from noon until 8 pm. Art on the Square is also on hand, from 11 am – 7 pm. The fabulous FREE Redwood City PAL Blues & Art Festival is in its third spectacular year, benefiting the Redwood City Police Activities League (PAL). Friends, family, neighbors, and other music lovers will convene for a marathon of outstanding blues artists that is putting Downtown Redwood City on the musical map. There’s even a special after-festival party/performance from 7 to 11 pm at Angelica 's Bistro, 863 Main Street. The Redwood City PAL Blues & Art Festival is presented by San Mateo Credit Union.
