Three Big Events Usher In the Season’s Series of Great Family Activities  on Courthouse Square: Peninsula Youth Orchestra, Sing Tao Asian Street Fair, and “Almost” Mother’s Day Concert

Redwood City, CA - April 29, 2009 - The entire community is eagerly anticipating the start of all the great events in Downtown Redwood City – last year’s events were a huge success with tens of thousands of people enjoying the incredible variety of wonderful fun family activities.

Now, it’s about to begin! First up is a FREE concert by the Peninsula Youth Orchestra- "Latin Accents" - an evening of traditional folk music and contemporary Latin jazz. This very special concert is presented by Orchestra Nova Musicians from the Peninsula Youth Orchestra and Redwood City School District Instrumentalists Community Partners for Music. It’s also underwritten by a grant from Target, and Co-Sponsored by Redwood City and its Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department.

Then, we bring the Sing Tao Asian Street Fair, sponsored by Sing Tao Daily Newspaper. It’s a two day street and art fair with an Asian influence! Food, artists, vendors, Chinese dance groups, Kung Fu demonstrations, fashion show, kids zone- featuring rides, inflatable jumps and so much more for the whole family! The third event to get the season going is the “Almost” Mother’s Day Concert, featuring Andy Z & the Andyland Band. Families will enjoy this fun kid's concert. Kids can also create a Mother's Day Gift in the craft area (opens at 10:30am). This concert is sponsored by the Redwood City Mother’s Club, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, and the Redevelopment Agency.
