Zoppé Circus Returns to Redwood City - an Italian Theatrical Circus since 1842
Redwood City, CA - September 15, 2009 - The Circus is coming to town - again!
Redwood City is proud to welcome “Zoppé - an Italian Family Circus” for two long weekends of performances, October 15th – 18th, and October 22nd – 25th. Last year, the Zoppé Circus was in town and wowed hundreds of people with its spectacular two-hour performances. The Circus tent will be set up right next to the Downtown Library (1044 Middlefield Road). Tickets are on sale now! Don’t wait, as last year there were many sold-out shows.
The Zoppé Family Circus will welcome guests into its intimate 450-seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Italian tradition. Starring Nino the Clown, the circus is propelled by a central story that features acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning, and plenty of audience participation.
Giovanni Zoppé, the sixth-generation circus performer who plays Nino, says the show aims beyond the more typical circuses of today. “When a kid imagines a circus, this is what they think of. It's exactly the way it's supposed to be. It's like the circus was 100 years ago." The Zoppé Family Circus is reminiscent of the one-ring European family circuses of the 19th century and will thrill and amaze children and adults alike with its breathtaking stunts and astonishing acrobatics.
Tickets are $10 (child)/$15 (adult) for noon and 4 pm shows, and $15 (child)/$20 (adult) for evening shows. All the information, show schedules, and ticket purchase is available online at www.redwoodcity.org/events/zoppe.html (tickets also available at Red Morton Community Center, 1120 Roosevelt Avenue, and at the circus tent on show days).
