Earth Month Events at the Library in April
Redwood City, CA - April 1, 2010 - The community is invited to join in the celebration of Earth Month by participating in a screening of an inspiring environmental film, and a thought-provoking author event at the Downtown Redwood City Library!
- Movie Screening – Fresh the Movie
Wednesday, April 7th, 6:30 PM – Downtown Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road
Fresh celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are reinventing our food system. Each has witnessed the transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Fresh the Movie has been selected by prominent film festivals, like Newport Beach, and developing environmental film festivals, like the Sustainable Life Film Festival. Directed by Ana Sofia Joanes, 72 minutes, 2009.
- Meet the Authors - Laura Stec and Dr. Eugene Cordero - Cool Cuisine: Taking The Bite Out of Global Warming
Thursday, April 22nd, 7 PM – Downtown Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road
Laura Stec & Dr. Eugene Cordero are the authors of Cool Cuisine : Taking The Bite Out of Global Warming - a smorgasbord of scientific fact and culinary art. It presents the full cycle on how our agrochemical food system affects global warming and how global warming affects the food system. Laura Stec is a Bay Area chef and environmental advocate who teaches about the artistry, health, and energetics of cooking. Dr. Eugene Cordero is an associate professor in the Meteorology Department at San Jose State University.
