Redwood City Fire Department Promotes From Within for New Deputy Fire Chief Position
Redwood City, CA - August 22, 2011 - The Redwood City Fire Department announced that Battalion Chief Stan Maupin has been promoted to serve in the new position of Deputy Fire Chief, effective August 29, 2011. It has been approximately 20 years since Redwood City has had the position of a Deputy Fire Chief. Today, this new assignment will be of great value in coordinating the administration of Redwood City Fire Department’s new shared-services partnership with the City of San Carlos.
Mr. Maupin, a veteran of the U.S. Marines, has served Redwood City for nearly five years, after working for 18 years for the Foster City Fire Department. He lives in Foster City with his wife and two children. His annual salary will be $166,800.
While his initial focus will be on the new combined fire service with San Carlos, which is expected to be implemented on October 1, 2011, Mr. Maupin’s assignment will stretch beyond that to the entire Redwood City Fire Department operation. “I’m proud and grateful to be given the responsibilities of this new position,” said Mr. Maupin. “The shared services concept is new for all of us, and I’m looking forward to ensuring it works well, for the benefit of the communities of both Redwood City and San Carlos.”
Redwood City Fire Chief Jim Skinner praised Mr. Maupin’s talent and abilities. “Stan has demonstrated the leadership and management skills necessary to take on this challenging new position, and I’m confident of his success. Particularly in light of the changes involved with shared services, he’s the right person to help lead us through these dynamic times.”
San Carlos’ Assistant City Manager Brian Moura noted, “Stan is a great choice for this assignment, to provide the strong leadership and management we need as we move into this new era of shared fire services. I know he’ll serve both our communities well.”
