Friends of the Library Presents: Free Concert, and Meditation Workshop
Redwood City, CA - July 14, 2011 - The Friends of the Redwood City Library are sponsoring two FREE community events in July at the Downtown Library. These two events represent the diverse, interesting, fun, and enlightening programs that are available at the Redwood City Public Library.
Thursday, July 21, 7 pm – “Cool Your Mind with Meditation” featuring Marshall Zaslove, M.D. How can we find true and lasting peace while living in today's frantic world? Board certified psychiatrist, best-selling author, and long-time meditator, Marshall Zaslove, MD, will present a lively and engaging workshop in achieving stillness of mind in meditation, for physical and emotional wholeness. His presentation will be based on the best-selling Inner and Outer Peace through Meditation by Rajinder Singh. All participants will be taught how to meditate on the “inner light.” What a great way to slow down our hectic lives, find inner calm, and help to foster a renewed energy and tranquility. Location: Community Room at the Downtown Library, 1044 Middlefield Road.
Saturday, July 23, 2 pm –Kenny Blackwell & Dorian Michael, Live in Concert. The community is invited to join friends and neighbors for a great live performance of duo Kenny Blackwell (mandolin) and Dorian Michael (guitar). The duo's diverse backgrounds are the wellspring for a performance of exciting and heartfelt music. Their enthusiasm for making music and their respect for their audience is plainly evident whenever they perform.
Dorian says that, "Some music makes you feel deeply, some music makes you think and some tunes are played just for the sheer fun of it. We like to try to get to all those places in the space of a concert!" This will be a fun, family-friendly concert that brings great music right to the library. Location: Fireplace Room at the Downtown Library, 1044 Middlefield Road.
