“Friends of Friday Night” Reserved Seating Program Helps Raise Funds to Continue Friday Night Concerts at Courthouse Square

Redwood City, CA - April 14, 2011 - A creative new fundraising concept is beginning this spring, to help keep the music alive at Redwood City’s free Friday night Music on the Square concerts. “Friends of Friday Night” offers sales of reserved seating, featuring special super-comfortable outdoor chaise lounge chairs, for all 23 Music on the Square Friday night concerts this season (most Fridays from May 6 – October 7). Only a small section of Courthouse Square will be occupied by this fundraising concept. This revenue will be used to help offset the costs of putting on these renowned and very popular Friday night concerts. Under the current economic situation, it’s becoming more and more difficult for the City to continue funding major community activities such as this. Community support is needed, and the City is grateful to the Fox Theatre for forging a fundraising partnership that will help maintain the Music on the Square concerts. The Fox Theatre will be handling the logistics for sales of the “Friends of Friday Night” season passes. And, season pass holders will also receive a ticket voucher for two tickets to the Fox Theatre (some restrictions apply).

The cost is $250 (plus a $15 service fee if paid by credit card) for one reserved seat, for the entire season of 23 concerts (only season passes are currently available). With over 200 spots available, the City could receive nearly $50,000 which will go directly to supporting the concert series. This creative fundraising idea is a winner for everyone, offering the opportunity for the public to directly support Redwood City’s Downtown concert series – while they’re comfortably enjoying great music all season long! “Friends of Friday Night” seat reservations (and concert listing) are available online at www.foxrwc.com/fridaynights (credit card only), and at the Fox Theatre box office (cash, check, or credit card), at 2223 Broadway from 10 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

The reserved seating will be located in the southwest corner of the Square, casually partitioned from open seating by colorful low-profile banners, and offering fine views of the stage and the dance floor. The reserved spots take up only about 10% of the total concert area (about one-quarter of the main open area), and the rest of the square will remain open seating, with plenty of prime spots for everyone to enjoy the show. By becoming one of the “Friends of Friday Night,” community members will be offering much-needed support to Redwood City’s Music on the Square, and reserving a great spot for every concert.
