Redwood City Public Library Earns "Five Star" Rating
Making It One of the Top Ranked Libraries in Country

Redwood City top ranked library in all of the
County, State and top rated among all mid-sized and large library systems nationally

Redwood City, Calif. - Redwood City Public Library has again received the coveted "Five Star Rating" from the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service - the premier public library national rating system instituted by the Library Journal. The recent ranking makes Redwood City Public Library the top-rated library in San Mateo County, the top rated library of any size in all of California, and as in previous years, the top-rated among all mid-sized and large library systems in the entire country.

Only three libraries in California achieved the Five Star Rating; Redwood City's library system received the highest numerical score. Scoring is based on per capita measurements including number of items borrowed, number of visits, number and types of programs offered, attendance at activities, level of public Internet use, and other elements.
"I am so excited that our Library system received another 'five star rating' from the industry-prestigious Library Journal Index," exclaims Dave Genesy, Director, Redwood City Public Library. "To be top ranked locally, state-wide and nationally once again is such an honor, and a true testament to our dedicated staff, volunteers and community that have made our Library into a nationally-recognized program!"
The Library Journal Index of Public Library Service identified 263 "star" libraries throughout the United States. Overall, it rated 7,750 public libraries, and the top libraries in each group got three, four, or five Michelin "guide-like" stars.

"Congratulations to the Redwood City Public Library and its outstanding staff on this extraordinary recognition," states Mayor Aguirre. "Our City's commitment to education, enrichment, and providing a wide range of activities is truly embodied in the Library team that is tireless in its effort to serve the community."
