Redwood City, CA - The City of Redwood City announced today the hiring of Sheri Costa-Batis as Public Communication and Engagement Manager. Ms. Costa-Batis, who most recently was Public Affairs Specialist with the City of San Mateo, will start in her new position on July 24. She will be filling the position held since 2001 by Malcolm Smith, who is retiring from the City.

"We're delighted to have Sheri join the Redwood City team," said City Manager Bob Bell. "Her proven track record, her deep skill set covering both traditional and new media, and her strong passion for public service and community engagement made her the top candidate to fill this critical role with Redwood City."

"This is a fantastic opportunity to work for an organization that is renowned for its excellent community building efforts," says Ms. Costa-Batis. "I'm looking forward to continuing that tradition, building it to a new level of community engagement, and expanding the City's new media presence."
