Community Invited to Participate in Discussion of Housing Issues

Redwood City, CA - The City Council and Planning Commission of Redwood City have scheduled a Joint Study Session to discuss housing issues and constraints. To enrich the discussion at this Study Session, the City is convening a panel of housing experts who are proficient in the areas of creating and developing a diversity of housing, planning and design, construction, property management, and public policy around housing.

Interested members of the community are invited to attend the Study Session, learn more about the issues and constraints around how housing may be provided, and join in the question-and-answer portion of the meeting.

Joint City Council/Planning Commission Study Session
Monday, August 25, 2014, 7 pm

City Council Chambers at City Hall
1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City

During the Joint Study Session, each of the panelists will give a brief presentation on their role in the production of housing, and offer suggestions for what cities can potentially do to assist in that construction. The Study Session will primarily be a question and answer session between the Council, Commission, panelists, and the public.

This Joint Study Session and expert panel will not only help bring the City and community a better understanding of the housing issues we face, but will also further the discussion started by the community review of Redwood City’s updated Housing Element. The Housing Element is a state-required plan that identifies the housing needs of each community, and is expected to come to the City Council this fall.
