Redwood City Issues “Call for Photos” for Upcoming Launch of New Web Site
City asks photographers, residents, and visitors to share photos capturing landmarks and “spirit” of Redwood City for upcoming redesign of City site.
Redwood City, Calif. – Redwood City is in the early stages of rebuilding a new more interactive and visual Web site, and is asking photographers, residents and visitors to assist in its redevelopment by sharing their favorite photos of landmarks, special places, and moments in Redwood City. The new site will feature a Content Management System which will enable the City to efficiently upload images that will highlight the many assets of Redwood City. Photographers and residents have until June 30, 2014 to submit their favorite photos.
First and foremost, the City looks to highlight Redwood City’s landmarks. Photographers are encouraged to share imagery of landmarks such as Courthouse Square, the Port, and the “climate best by government test” arch, along with other signature places and historical buildings. Although the City will not be able to track photo credits, amateur or professional photographers can embed their credit into the photo.
Very importantly, the City also looks to capture the “spirit” of Redwood City by posting photos that demonstrate how people enjoy living, working and visiting Redwood City. Photos of people dancing in Courthouse Square, volunteering at the Library, dining or catching a movie in Downtown Redwood City are just a few possibilities for submissions.
“The new Web site is a continuation of the City’s tireless effort to find new tools to connect to our community,” explains Mayor Jeffrey Gee. “Our goal is to build an easy-to-navigate and informative Web site that visually represents the diversity of our community and our treasured places. We hope everyone will share their favorite images to help us accomplish our online goals.”
Guidelines include ensuring that photos are appropriate for all ages, and are accompanied by a signed “Website Photo Consent Form” which can be found and downloaded here. Photos should be submitted in file formats .jpg, .tif, gif, or .png. Residents, visitors and photographers can share as many photos as they would like. Images, photo consent form, and background information including name, phone number, when the photo was taken and a brief description can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline of Monday, June 30, 2014. The City team will select the most high-quality appropriate photos that best exemplify Redwood City.
