Redwood City PAL Announces the Selection of a New Executive Director

Redwood City, Calif. - Daniel P. Bergeron has been chosen to lead the Redwood City Police Activities League (PAL) into its next phase of programming and development.

Starting as a Program Coordinator for the Peninsula Boys & Girls Club in San Mateo, Bergeron worked his way up to Program Director and then Director of Operations. The Executive Director position at PAL of Redwood City is a natural progression for Bergeron, who possesses such a broad spectrum of talent and ability.

One of Bergeron's main responsibilities will be to operate and run the PAL Community Center at the Taft School Campus in Redwood City. Through that facility, PAL reaches out and collaborates with such diverse groups and local organizations including the Ballet Folklorico, Mexico Vivo, Casa De La Cultura, Verde Ambassadors, Zumba Dance, the Friendly Acres Neighborhood Association, the Junior Fire Academy, Redwood City School District, Redwood City Park, Recreation and Community Services, Stanford GOALS program and the Boys and Girls Club of America.

PAL is an independent non-profit community-based organization providing intervention, prevention, and alternative programs to at-risk and economically challenged youth in Redwood City. PAL receives its oversight from the PAL Board in collaboration with Redwood City Police Department leaders.

The programs provided by PAL are designed to help youth assimilate honest values, skills and goals. PAL's mission is to build partnerships between youth, police and the community through educational, cultural, recreational and outreach programs. The primary goal for all involved is to help youth reach their full potential. PAL, the Redwood City Police Department, the Redwood City School District and the City of Redwood City have formed a unique public and private partnership, which is critical in providing delinquency prevention programs.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Daniel's experience and knowledge joining the PAL team," stated PAL Vice President Alpio Barbara. Spectrum Magazine Publisher Steve Penna serves as the organizations President.

Executive Director Dan Bergeron received the unanimous backing of the PAL Board of Directors and Redwood City Police Chief JR Gamez who also sits on the Board.
