Classes & Ongoing Programs

Classes and Ongoing Programs are offered in a warm, friendly and fun atmosphere. Come experience the variety of wonderful quarterly and ongoing programs. Here are just few classes for you to view.

Computers

Beginning to Advanced Watercolor Class
Fridays, 9am - Noon
July 7-August -25, 2006
($60 Session, $10 materials fee paid to instructor)
Goldstar Room, VMSC
Guy thoroughly enjoys working with students of all levels to explore this challenging medium. Hyper-realism is how he classifies his style of painting, enhancing abstract shapes with exaggerated color, which fits together in a myriad of ways making a finished image. Come and paint along with Guy and learn...
You will experiment with many different techniques from wet into wet, wet onto dry and learn about glazing colors for a luminous clean painting. You will also experience how to use "masking" to save the whites of your paper and also for building texture in a variety of ways.

Line Dancing
Beginning: Mondays 9:00-10:00am
Easy Intermediate: Mondays 10:15-11:30am
Annex- Sequoia Room ($5 per class/$32 for an 8-week session).

Come and join us for a fun-filled hour of line dancing. The class is for the beginner dancer and will feature many popular beginner-level dances. Mike Sliter, Instructor.

Advanced Beginning Tap Dance & Movement :
Thursdays, 10:30-11:30am
Theater stage ($28 for 7 classes).

Adults can learn the fundamentals of tap dancing using basic movement techniques. This class will perform short combinations and dance! Be sure to dress comfortably with clothes you can MOVE in! Activity shoes are okay, tap shoes are optional. Limit of 25 students. (Please pre-register) Cheryl McNamara, Instructor.

Japanese Brush Painting
Mondays 10am-12pm, 9/5-11/3
Main Building ($75 for 8 classes)
Learn a fun and relaxing hobby while creating your own works of art. This course introduces the basic techniques and materials of Japanese style brush painting such as sumi-ink preparation and brush handling techniques. Intermediate students will learn additional traditional techniques such as washes, dry brush, wet on wet, multi-color brushing techniques, color mixing and picture mounding. A materials list will be provided at the first class (cost approximately $30). Register at the 1 st or 2 nd class with the instructor. Ami Wada, Instructor.

Line Dance Class:
Wednesdays 7-9pm
Main Building ($5 per class)

Quilting- 3 Day Workshop
Thursday-Saturday, 9am-4pm
6/15-6/17

Main Building, ($75 for 3 classes- not including materials)
The beloved art of quilting has long been recognized as an important cultural and historical art form. Open to both beginning and advanced students, this class is for all ages and skill levels. If you've always wanted to create a quilt, but didn't know where to start, this is the class for you. Register at first class. For information, phone 650-365-4874.
