Youth Art Camps 2013

Visual Arts Camp
Age 5-9
with Dr. Peter Koehler, artist, Ph.D. in Mathematics, researched and taught at Stanford University. He currently teaches at the Nueva School.
This is for creative kids who love the Arts, love to paint and want to learn new imaginative ways to express themselves. We’ll use lots of vibrant paint to create our own interpretation of Monet’s Garden , Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Nature’s Coral Reefs. There will be a large variety of other art materials too : Enjoy pottery clay, selection of wooden pieces to make 3-D sculptures, a variety of colorful paper for collages, and we apply oil pastels in new ways to make designs and scenes of your own imagination . Maybe you are inspired by animals, flowers, by stars and planets, or the Northern Lights. Students should bring a peanut-free snack each day and a
smock or apron to cover clothes. Lab fee of $30 payable to instructor at 1st class.

Still Life Drawing Camp
Age 6-12
with Young Rembrandts
Still lifes are the staple of every artist. In this workshop we will learn to draw a wonderful variety of still lifes from pumpkins to toys and even a collection of trophies. We will practice and fine tune our color pencil skills. Highlights and shading will enhance each drawing. Join us for five days of challenging lessons as we refine our drawing skills. Lab fee of $10 payable to instructor 1st day.

African Safari Drawing Camp
Age 6-12
with Young Rembrandts
Go on a Safari adventure with Young Rembrandts this summer! We will explore the exciting land and many animals that inhabit Africa. In five days we will draw a variety of animals in various scenes with different media. To keep things exciting, we will explore the African Safari through the fun technique of cartoon as well. We will even challenge our artistic talents by creating 2 large scenes - one in a graphic style filled with a variety of animals and another focusing on the
twists and turns of a African snake completed with pastel chalks. Our exploration through Africa allows for a bounty of adventure and creativity. Lab fee of $10 payable to instructor 1st day.
