Game Design: Beginning to Advanced
Ages 8-12

Improve your skills and impress family and friends with your game! Returning game creators learn techniques such as character movement, multiple platforms and game formats. Beginners are introduced to game design and computer programming. Students may bring Flash Drives to the last class and will be able to take a copy of their video game home to share with friends and family.

Tech Builders Intro to App Design
Ages 8-13

Create your own mobile app based games! Designed for students who are interested in technology or video games who want to make a cool mobile app to share with family and friends! Using game salad software, students are mentored through the app creation process. Students learn different introductory techniques in the creation of a mobile app such as character creation, story progression and creative design thinking. Students will receive software download information and learn how to design apps outside the class!

Animation Creators: Intro to Computer Animation
Ages 8-13

Create original animated characters and unique story lines while learning computer animation! In this class, participants will learn skills that help computer drawing, character movement, frame layering and dialogue matching. Students will work in small groups on animation technique and will complete a short animated film.

Young Creators Filmmaking
Ages 7-12

This class begins with a completed script, allowing students to jump in and begin the filmmaking fun! Students form small production groups of 6 to 8 filmmakers per group. Students select a movie genre and begin creating storyboards for their film. Using handheld cameras and editing software, students produce the film, integrating simple special effects, sound effects and a musical score that is specific to the theme of their film. They learn camera angles, film etiquette and vocabulary, as well as how to use digital film tools.

Stop Motion Animation
Ages 7-12

This digital class introduces participants to the fundamentals of Stop-Motion animation. Using basic software, students are introduced to all the tools necessary to animate objects, from Lego blocks to action figures, any object will do! The young animators begin by developing a storyboard for a short animated film. They are mentored through a creative process that will lead them to a finished short animated film at the conclusion of the program.

LEGO Flix
Ages 7-13 in appropriate age groups

We know you love Legos and we know you can create incredible worlds. Now it’s time to bring those worlds to life in Lego animated flix! We provide the Legos, and you provide your imagination. Students will create a Lego set with Lego characters for a movie they storyboard, write, shoot, and voice‐over in age appropriate groups.

Creature Animation Flix

After you film, the creatures you make will look like they’re running around the room! No longer are you stuck inside filming animation in just one spot in our most adventurous stopmotion animation camp yet. You’ll use arts and crafts to make your creatures, brainstorm

Animation Flix

In this high energy camp, students will create a new movie each day for a total of 5 animated flix! They’ll use different styles of stop‐motion animation for each movie, and we’ve added in some new animations this year (ending the week with face painting animation!). This is the ultimate arts and crafts camp where campers create, direct, and film in age appropriate groups.

Green Screen Animation Flix

Take your characters underwater, to a volcano, or even to outer space. In this camp, you’ve got no limits. Writing

Creative Writing

Age 7-12
Published writers will introduce campers to different creative writing techniques. They will learn time-tested methods to overcome writer’s block. As they do so, they will write short stories, poems and short skits. While writing stories they will be introduced to the different genre of literature and rhyme and figures of speech will be the focus while they learn poems. Students will be divided by age and ability once enrollment exceeds 10. Lab Fee: $15 for workbooks, folders, paper, and portfolios. All instructors are published authors with experience teaching.

Essay Writing

Age 8-13
Students will learn the art of writing essays. Younger students will write three paragraph essays while older students will write five paragraph essays which are the preferred method in schools. In addition to planning and outlining their essays properly before writing, they will learn to use topic sentences, hooks, thesis statements, and transitional words in order to make their essays flow. They will also learn ways to add supporting details in order to write stronger essays. Lab Fee: $15 for workbooks, folders, paper, and portfolios. All instructors are published authors with experience teaching.

Story Writing

Age 7-12
The five elements of story writing will be the focus during this session. Published writers will introduce students to a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres. They will progress into genre writing and learn how each genre has its own set of particular rules that drives character creation, setting, and plot. They will choose one of their short stories and improve upon that. All students will be published in the Lekha blog. class will be divided by age after 10 students enroll Lab Fee: $15 for workbooks, folders, paper, and portfolios. Persuasive Essay Writing

Students will learn to write the persuasive essay, which focuses on developing a student’s ability to support a stated opinion. Students will write five paragraph essays, which is the structure favored by school teachers. They also will learn how to plan and outline their essays properly before writing, as well as how to revise their essays. Lab Fee: $15 for workbooks, folders, paper, and portfolios. All instructors are published authors with experience teaching.
