| Park Improvement Update |
 |
Sand Play Area Renovation
Maddux Park & Stafford Park
The sand features at Maddux & Stafford Parks are being replaced due to persistent presence of the E.coli bacteria, which is generally caused by fecal contamination from humans, cats, dogs, or other animals. Despite our best efforts over the last year, the City has been unable to prevent the problem from recurring, so the decision was made to replace the sand features with new play features. Select a park to view plans.
Maddux Park | Stafford Park
|
| Due to the nature of the project, the City has opted to close Maddux Park for the entire construction period (November 15, 2010 - January 15, 2011- pending weather). There is not a safe entry and exit point for heavy machinery and we feel it poses a large safety concern for participants. Stafford Park will remain open and the improvement area will be fenced off for safety. |

This rousing hometown favorite plays every year to two sold out school matinees and two public performances at the historic Fox Theatre. A local tradition, Ballet America brings the Nutcracker to over 1000 peninsula schoolchildren and makes dance a vibrant part of our whole community. Redwood City’s own Ballet America dances a spirited, full-length version of this much-loved holiday ballet. From the youngest angels to the professional Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, this Nutcracker joins dancers of all levels in an exuberant production that has made its home at the Fox Theater for nearly a decade.
Set to the beloved Tchaikovsky score, this Nutcracker includes a cast of more than 100 dancers, colorful sets, and beautiful costumes. A festive night out for families and experienced ballet fans alike, this show is also a superb, affordable way to introduce children to the magic of ballet. This year, the students and teachers of the Academy of American Ballet are proud to be joined by professional dancers Maia Wilkins as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Michael Levine as the Cavalier, and David Bier as the Snow King. |
