What is the Downtown Precise Plan?

The Downtown Precise Plan is just that - a precise planning document which will be the "roadmap" or blueprint for how we will create an exciting, active, and livable Downtown. It will help to create interesting building forms and attractive spaces - a more viable and attractive Downtown for the entire community. Click here to view a map showing the boundaries of the Downtown Precise Plan area.

It will contain explicit development guidelines that cover all aspects of sites and building. For example, it will contain specific recommendations for massing, entrance design, landscaping, architectural style, appropriate colors, and all other aspects of a prospective development. The Downtown Precise Plan will also examine and outline standards of open space in private development, including the size, public accessibility, and design.

Finally, the Downtown Precise Plan will provide potential developers with a clear understanding of what the City and the community want, and the scope of types of projects which could be approved. By providing such detailed notice to developers, the City creates a helpful attitude toward investors and will stimulate further interest in our Downtown.
