Consultant  Selected for Environmental Review Process

The City Council has approved a professional services agreement with Hauge Brueck Associates (HBA) for environmental consultant services for the Saltworks development proposal. HBA will assist the City in crafting an approach for the environmental review process, including the preparation of an EIR, development of pre-scoping information meetings, development of a preliminary Project Description, Purpose and Needs Statement, and the development of a Notice of Preparation (NOP).

The selection of HBA followed a thorough solicitation and interview process of qualified consultants. The City received five submittals and identified the top three for interviews. Hauge Brueck Associates is a well-established firm that specializes in the management and preparation of environmental and planning documents for public and private clients.  The firm prepares project- and program-level environmental documents and has extensive experience in both the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Project Management will be under the direction of Anders Hauge and Pat Collins of Winzler & Kelly. Their understanding of key aspects of the environmental process, such as public involvement, environmental documentation and program management established HBA as the top choice.

Hauge is a land use and environmental planner with experience in California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Maine, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. He has managed large, complex, and controversial planning and environmental projects from initial concept through implementation. HBA has managed numerous projects, including: City of Sutter Creek Gold Rush Ranch Project; City of Santa Rosa Subregional Long-Term Wastewater Project EIR/EIS; Stanford University Community Plan/General Use Permit EIR; and Heavenly Ski Resort Master Plan and EIR/EIS.
